Code 2 bookings and claims

I am not sure how many people are aware of the IAM posting regarding the domestic military shipments being booked as crated Code 2 shipments if the member does not have a delivery address.  One of the main reason they are citing for implementing the test change starting November 1st in one large channel with the intention of moving this to all moves starting December 1st is that the military believes there are fewer claims on Code 2 shipment that goes to SIT compared to standard domestic shipments that go to storage.

    1)    I am curious if you think there is any validity in this claim of Code 2 shipments that go into SIT having fewer claims?

    2)    what percentage of your equipment can handle lift vans for crating at residence compared to trailers or box trucks that you would APU?

There is also a concern that members may have an address for the destination but will want their shipment crated anyway, only to be disappointed as to how the shipment was booked.

    Thanks for your input.
